He noted that in this context, the increase in the need criterion will lead to an increase in the amount of help that our citizens will receive under the targeted social assistance program starting next year.
According to him, by increasing the need criterion, more families will be able to request specific social assistance:
“For example, there are five members in a family and the official monthly income of that family is 900 manats. This year, the need criterion for that family is 1,350 manats (5 people x 270 manats). At this time, the difference between the family’s expenses and income is 450 manat (1350 manat – 900 manat).
If that family has the right to apply for specific social assistance, they can receive 450 AZN per month from the State under that program. But this number will increase next year. So, the need criterion for that family increases to 1425 manats starting next year (5 people x 285 manats) and as a result, if the income of that family does not change, the monthly assistance that that family receives is not 450 manats. but 525 manats (1425 manats – 900 manats).
The deputy added that starting in 2025 it is more appropriate to cancel the necessity criterion and use only the subsistence minimum:
“At this time, it is more convenient to use the minimum living criterion in the specific social assistance program.”
