How to restore a phone that fell into water?

Dropping your phone into water can cause internal damage, screen failure, the device not charging or not working at all. So, in such a situation, it is important to know how to save your phone.

Oku.Az-According to Gazeta.ru, Russian specialist Ilya Kazakov spoke about this.

Kazakov advised not to panic when faced with such a situation, but to immediately remove the phone from the water and dry it thoroughly with a clean cloth or napkin.

“If your phone is still working after you take it out of the water, make sure to turn it off. Avoid the temptation to unlock it to see if it’s working. This can interfere with the recovery process,” he said.

As a next step, Kazakov recommended removing everything possible from the phone: cover, lid, memory cards, stylus, SIM cards and battery.

“Next, wipe everything with a dry tissue, including the battery compartment, the screen, and the connection ports. Gently shake the device – this will clean out any water trapped in the headphone jack, charging port, and speaker. You can try to get the liquid out of the ports with a special air blower, but don’t use a hair dryer – the heat can melt some parts and the circuit,” the expert added.

Kazakov recommends placing the device in a container filled with raw rice as a popular way to remove moisture.

“A safer option is to store your phone in an airtight container with silica gel sachets. They absorb moisture better than rice,” adds the expert.

He advised waiting a day for the device to dry completely before turning it on.

“If the damage is minimal, the device should start working again or at least charge. At the same time, it is important not to charge a wet phone for at least five hours, otherwise the problem may worsen,” Kazakov said.

Kazakov recommended washing the damaged part with tap water if other liquid is spilled on models such as “Apple” and “Samsung”, which are considered water-resistant.

“But in this case we must be careful not to aggravate the problem,” he warned.

According to him, for “Apple” devices, to remove excess liquid, it is necessary to lightly tap the device while holding the “Lightning” or “USB-C” port down.

“Next, keep the iPhone in a dry place with little airflow and place it in front of a fan blowing cold air directly into the port; this can speed up the process,” the expert concluded.
