The impact of Hurricane Kirk coming from the northwest of the peninsula will leave precipitation and very strong wind gusts this Tuesday in the northwest, the western quadrant of the central system, the Cantabrian Sea and the Pyrenees of the peninsula and in the Balearic Islands.
According to forecasts from the National Meteorological Agency (AEMET), Galicia is on yellow alert (significant risk) to wind, rain and waves due to the effect of Storm Kirk which also keeps Asturias, Cantabria , the Basque Country and the north under warning today for Castile and León due to wind gusts of 90 kilometers per hour, while eastern Andalusia is due to rough seas.
In Galicia today we expect precipitation accumulated in one hour of up to 15 liters per square meter and sometimes even more; Additionally, 60 liters per square meter can be recorded in twelve hours. Wind gusts will be strong in the north, between 80 and 90 kilometers per hour along the Galician and western coast of Asturias, as well as in the Cantabrian Sierra and the northwest mountains.
The sea will also be rough on the eastern coast of Andalusia; In Granada and Almería, winds will blow between 50 and 60 kilometers per hour and waves could reach between 2 and 4 meters.
There will be a general drop in temperatures, which will be notable in the center and interior of the east and southeast of the peninsula, with the exception of some slight increases in areas of the western third, the sea Cantabrian and Levantine coast.
Intense winds will blow over the peninsula and the Balearic Islands, from the south and southwest over Galicia and the Cantabrian Sea, and from the west and southwest over the rest, with a tendency to intensify at the end day.
