Florida resident Nikki became the heroine of a heartwarming story when she saved a stray cat and her seven kittens from Hurricane Milton, which recently hit the state. The cat and her baby were hiding in an abandoned house when the situation became critical.
Details of the heartwarming rescue were captured in a video Nikki later posted to TikTok.
“I told my husband, ‘If I don’t get them, I’ll never forgive myself. These poor animals won’t survive because the whole area was flooded after the previous Hurricane Jan in 2022,'” Nikki says, emphasizing her determination to help.
After concerned people reported the cat and her kittens, Nikki and her friend rushed to help. The trip lasted about 30 minutes and as soon as they arrived they were greeted by a cat who immediately took them to their babies. She looked back several times, making sure the women were following her.
At the scene, they noticed empty bowls with remains of food and water lying on the street. It became clear that the cat and her kittens were hungry and needed help. The women carefully placed the animals in a carrier and took them home to keep them safe until the storm passed.
During the rescue mission, Nikki and her friend filmed a video that later went viral on TikTok. Footage shows a cat trying to protect her kittens from an approaching storm. Fortunately, thanks to the actions of the women, she did not have to face the elements alone.
Now the cat and her babies are in a temporary shelter, where they will receive the necessary care. All of the kittens, except one who suffered a minor injury, are doing well. No information on possible adoptions has been announced yet, as the kittens are only two weeks old and still too small to be given to new families.
