The death toll from Hurricane Oscar, which hit Cuba ten days ago, was 8 people, two people were missing and two more were injured, reported the Cuban civil protection service.
“As a result of the impact of Hurricane Oscar, eight people died and two children were injured: one six years old, the other twelve years old, both are recovering healthily. “There are two people missing.” – says a blog post from the rescuers in X.
Oscar crossed the eastern end of Cuba on October 20, causing serious material damage. Seven deaths were initially reported.
Hurricane-force winds that reached 130 kilometers per hour caused serious damage to agriculture in eastern Cuba. As Cubadebate reported, almost the entire coffee crop, up to 80% of the bananas and hundreds of hectares of tomatoes were in the ground.
