“I always thought women liked him.”

Former President and current Republican candidate for the White House, Donald Trump, assured this Monday that he wants to be “the protector” of womento try to attract the female vote at a rally in the key swing state of Pennsylvania. “I always thought women liked him, I never thought he had a problem with them,” said the Republican, who is currently outnumbered by the party. Vice President Kamala Harris in surveys conducted among this demographic group.

“I want to be your protector. As president, I have to be your protector,” said the candidate, who in 2023 was convicted of sexual abuse and defamation charges against writer E. Jean Carroll. Trump suggested in his speech that his immigration and economic policies would keep women “safe,” after previously saying they were “poorer”, were “in poorer health” and that they were “less safe on the streets” than four years ago.

On the issue of abortion, one of the key points of these elections and particularly for this section of the population, the candidate declared that, if he wins, women “they will no longer think about abortion” because they are “happy, healthy, confident and free.”Harris promised to protect abortion under federal law during her campaign, while Trump has said he believes in exceptions to abortion restrictions in cases of rape, incest and danger to the mother’s life.

During the meeting, Trump also reiterated his position on expulsion of migrants referring to cities like Springfield, Ohio, whose Haitian population has been severely stigmatized by the former president’s false statements. “The fact is, and I say it now, we have to get them out of here. We have to get them out,” the tycoon said.
