More than 700 kilometers. It is the distance that separates commerce from Álvaro Torres Gutiérrez (36 years old), and Ayelén Velasco Alonso (31 years old), from the place where they were born. This couple, from Ibizadecided to make a 180 degree turn in his life in February this year, when They settle in the Navarrese capital. Recently they opened Diminutos Gigantes, a children’s clothing storein the old town.
“Our two-year-old son Aritz motivated us to come,” he says. And he explains that the situation in Ibiza is becoming “very precarious to live there”. In this sense, the birth of the youngest in the family opened the eyes of young couplewho was hesitant to look for another place where he could give his son a different type of life. “When you have a child, you start to look more towards the future.”
Pamplona has always been one of the first options. Torres admits he is in love with northern Spain. “Since I was a teenager, I really like Navarra and the Basque Country”. Indeed, he traveled frequently in this region.
This has penetrated him so much that his son has a name more appropriate to these lands. “When my wife became pregnant and we found out it was a boy, we had two names in mind and both were of Basque origin. “Aritz” was a name I loved the first time I heard it and I always carried it with me. “My wife loved it,” he explains.
Finally, they chose moving to Pamplona: “For me, this city has always had something special,” says the co-founder of Diminutos Gigantes. “We couldn’t see ourselves living in a big city because in Ibiza we had everything close by and it would have been more difficult for us to adapt.” This explains one of the reasons which pushed them to choose the Navarrese capital.
Torres explains that the idea of opening the store Tiny Giants children’s clothing It was born out of opportunity and experience. “When we arrived in Pamplona, we realized that there was a niche market,” he admits. And he says the couple struggled to find clothes for Aritz that matched his tastes and respected his values.

On the other hand, Torres had previously worked in clothing stores and I even had experience managing them. This made it easier for him to make the decision to open his own business in Pamplona.
THE Children’s clothing store Diminutos Gigantes It is located at number 56 San Nicolás Street. This is a place that previously housed other companies in the textile sector, such as Natural Dipnner or the women’s clothing store Meraki. “When we saw that this location was available, we didn’t hesitate,” Torres emphasizes.
He is particularly excited having opened their store in the old town of Pamplona. “Coming to work here every day has become something special,” he says. And he attributes that to the fact that it’s a part of the city that he really likes. Also the good reception: “The stores next door received us very well. I am very grateful to them.”
THE Little Giants store It surprises with its order and its warm atmosphere. Customers find clothing in different styles for children and pre-teens. “We have sizes from newborn to 16.”
When describing the type of clothing he sells, Torres indicates that although Little giants “it doesn’t leave the classic at all”, yes seeks to “bring modernity” when dressing to the little ones in the house.
Another thing that makes this different children’s fashion storewhich raised the blind for the first time on Friday September 27, is its way of adapt to different ages. “A child does not dress the same way when he is two, eight or fourteen,” emphasizes the co-founder of Diminutos Gigantes. “We always try to have clothes suitable for each age,” he insists. In fact, the clothes are distributed in the premises by differentiated zones depending on the age group.
In addition, this store is designed so that shopping time is a positive experience for the whole family: “I’m waiting for some furniture to arrive so I can set up a corner here so the little ones can play,” he says, pointing to a corner near the counter.
In this sense, he insists on the fact that he wants children Enjoy it when you enter the Little Giants store. “Ultimately, another of our goals is for the little ones to find their personality and this, in part, thanks to our clothes,” he explains.
And he assures that there are many small children with very clear ideas. Torres smiles as he looks at one of the mannequins decorating the clothing store window. He wears dark gray, almost black, jeans with pockets on the sides.
One of the first anecdotes he experienced Little giants: “The other day a 7 year old boy came into the store and wanted these pants. He liked the side pockets.”
