Nature’s worst face sometimes gives human beings their best face. Faced with the DANA tragedy, which left nearly a hundred dead in Valencia, dozens of anonymous people dedicated themselves to the cause to contribute their grain of sand to what is already the worst disaster on Valencian lands.
While emergency teams and state security forces and agencies help and search for the missing, the population supports another of the main victims of the phenomenon: animals.
This is the case of Antonio José Cuenca, known as Antón, an automobile content creator who is also a dog trainer and who has aroused the solidarity of people all over Spain to rescue dogs affected by floods.
Through a message on social networks which has already more than 10 million impacts, The Alicante man called for action to remove dogs in need from the most affected areas and accommodate them in his shelter in the municipality of Agost.
“The impact it’s had has been crazy; people from all over the country and even celebrities are talking to me to tell me how they can help me,” he told the newspaper. Since he posted the video on his Instagram account yesterday, dozens of people have devoted themselves to his cause and are sending him supplies for sheltering animalswhich will start arriving this Thursday afternoon.
“The initiative was born from watching the Adopta Valencia video which shows dogs with water up to their necks. I couldn’t stand idly by“, explains the coach, who missed a greater mobilization of the protectors.
What started as a selfless movement among the automobile clubs with which it is linked became an unstoppable snowball that added the help of “unsung heroes”as he defines these people who went to Valencia to look for dogs.
The main difficulty in bringing the animals is the state of land routes, many of which are inaccessible. Antón says that, faced with the difficulties, there are people who headed to the most affected areas, parked several kilometers from the shelters and He carried the dogs in his arms.
In total, around 25 dogs will arrive at Elantkan, their shelter, since they are animals in vulnerable conditions and many of them may be sick or need veterinary care.
Anton will receive “with the doors open“to volunteers and people who provide resources for animals and offer their facilities to other caregivers.
“I recently uploaded a video criticizing a party in a town where a bull was killed with an SUV and I thought we were barbarians, but I see people putting themselves in danger to save their lives animals and it moves you”, stands out.
Thus, he plans to create a series of solidarity key rings which can be purchased online for anyone who wants to help in other areas and cannot do so in person.
