“I do not tolerate disrespect for the Supreme Court”

The Minister of the Presidency, Justice and Relations with the Courts, Félix Bolaños, confronted this afternoon the senator Junts Eduard Pujol after the latter disqualified the judges of the Supreme Court for their interpretation of the amnesty law.

The fight took place because of a question from Pujol. “Will the laws approved by the Cortes also be respected by the judges walking around Madrid and the Supreme Court with a tricorn 3.0“Yes or no?” Senator Junts said.

The President of the House, Pedro Rollaninterrupted him immediately. “I seem to remember that, by the same expression, the last time I asked him to respect decorum. I remind him of it again.”

“It’s a shame that we can’t teach through images,” Pujol replied.

“No, no,” Rollán interrupted again. “The tricorn 3.0 thing is excessive. Keep going.”

Pujol went on to say that “legal scams on the fringes,The most nostalgic togas will be able to continue their particular ascent Or is someone going to stop them?

He also asked Bolaños about immigration and “whether he’s going to have a crisis of ministerial amnesia and forget about that, with Junts, in exchange for nothing, nothing. And in exchange for everything, a lot.

Do not come with the speech of concord, do not be tempted to chisel the conditions of Juntsas Minister Elma Sáiz has already suggested. An agreement on immigration without scissors is a central condition of Junts,” he said.

Bolaños responded, raising his voice. “They seem to me unacceptable the statements he just made about the Supreme Court justices. “I ask for respect for every Supreme Court justice, for the judges and for the courts of this country.”

I cannot tolerate this disrespect. that judges and magistrates of this country possess,” he added.

Bolaños said that the amnesty law “has been approved and is being implemented and causes the desired effect, namely a political, institutional and social normalization in Catalonia. It is a reality.”

He stressed that some courts have considered that preliminary questions or questions of unconstitutionality should be raised. “We will wait for the Constitutional Court and the European Court to rule so that the amnesty law continues to apply,” he said.

“These statements that the TC and the CJEU will make are nothing more than an example that Spain is a fully-fledged state of law where judicial decisions are respected and where the laws, of course, are respected.”
