Fernando Alonso He went through hell during the last Brazilian Grand Prix. With an AMR24 far from being able to compete for leading the middle zone, the Spaniard arrived last after going off the line.
In the end, he ended up overtaking Zhou after being 15 seconds behind the Chinese driver, but he didn’t do it without pain.
Alonso was asked what position he was in when he was 15th with 25 laps remaining. “I have a lot of bounce and I don’t know if I can finish the racebuddy,” the Oviedo man told the team on the radio.
“Please check what happened before round 4. I don’t know if this rebound is normal“, he repeated a few laps later, pointing to a serious ‘porpoising’ problem.
“I will finish the race for the mechanics who did an excellent job, but I have a lot of back pain“, he added.
In fact, after the race he thanked his team again for their work: “Thank you to all the mechanics in the garage. Phenomenal work before the race. They deserve more, but thank you“.
