“I suffer a lot for my colleagues, but we will make the report”

The presenter of the Investigation Team, Glòria Serra, responded this morning to the threats and intimidation of Daniel Esteve, leader of the company dedicated to evictions Desokupa, she acknowledged that she suffers “a lot” from her colleagues, that some are worried or angry about the situation, and assured that she would publish the report she is preparing.

Asked by Jordi Basté during the meeting of the show this Friday Mondayof RAC1, Serra explained that these threats are precisely what justify the report. “This justifies the origin of this story, which is this: this person and this company deserve a report,” said the presenter of La Sexta, who explained that they decided to do the program when they saw that the Unified Police Union had called Desokupa to form the Police “that must ensure compliance with the law.”

“I think what we are saying explains that perhaps this is not the best option and that we have to explain why this happened,” said Serra, who insisted that it must be done but “without getting angry.”

The TV presenter admitted that threats against family members or to occupy the homes of journalists or the program coordinators “are not very nice.” “This is not the first time they have threatened us. Yes, in such a public and exaggerated way,” explained Serra, who added that “these are threats, they are not realities” and that the legal department will follow its path and the journalists will do their job. Atresmedia announced Thursday that it would denounce Daniel Esteve.

Glòria Serra, who denied being afraid after Esteve’s threats, acknowledged suffering for her fellow journalists. “There are 65 of us. And the first line of fire is our cameramen. Because also, when everyone has a problem, they attack the cameraman, the device and the reporter who accompanies them,” she explained. “What I suffer most is for them and their state of mind. It fluctuates. There are people who are… well, worried, upset… And there are people who are very angry. And what we try is to accompany, but above all to make the irritation and anger disappear.

Of course, Serra assumed that “the report will be made.” And he concluded: “I believe that fortunately we are still in a country where the intimidation of journalists does not have the consequences that it has in others where journalists die and reports do not appear.”
