Javi Poves, Former Madrid player who left football at 24 because he considered it a sport full of “corruption”, he traveled the world and led the Flat Earth, a movement born to unite the voices of millions of earthlings of the world. However, some time later he returned to our country and now president-coach of Moscardó, which was promoted from Preferential to Second RFEF consecutively in two years. The current leader and coach is characterized by the fact that he speaks sincerely about all kinds of subjects, even if socially he does not like what he says.
For example, he denounced some voices who say that female footballers should be paid in the same way as female footballers, a salary equalization which for Javi Poves is nonsense, as some say, like Hector Bellerin. “For me, everyone should do what they want, but never tell me what is right. I don’t know how much Héctor Bellerín knows about women’s football or what the sector is. I am involved in this world as a leader and I know what is profitable and what is ruinous. So when you make statements like “women should earn the same as men…”. It’s just that they don’t generate it. I think Héctor Bellerín has no idea what he is talking about. In this world there is little freedom of speech and he has chosen to say things that will be well received socially, but without any idea of what he is talking about. “These are empty words.”
Regarding his coaching adventure, he brags about what he has accomplished and wants more. “A career as a technician? Yes, I consider myself qualified. If someone from the outside could see a film of what happened at Moscardó over the last two and a half years, when I arrived… I believe that if the largest shareholder of the Mancester United, give me the reins of the team. My way of understanding football has nothing to do with Ancelotti’s, for example, but I think I’m just as good on a human level. We started with good results and, in the end, people were in love with me. From a critical situation at the sporting level, we went to a promotion that was a boom in the region because it has been a thousand years since we fought for things like that,” adds Javi Poves.
In his time, he said he was disenchanted with football, he even spoke of a corrupt sport. “When I was at Sporting, I was disenchanted with life in general. I needed to do what I was doing: have experiences, travel to all continents and meet hundreds of people who think differently from me. But football has always been very present in my life and getting away from it is almost impossible. Seven years ago there were opportunities to manage clubs and it sounds bad to say it, but I don’t think there is a CV like mine in semi-professional football, both as manager and as a coach. In six years, four promotions. I think I can be proud. This fills me up, for now. And the day that doesn’t satisfy me, I’ll take another path.”
Even if today he continues to criticize certain things concerning the football sector. “Wages? This seems absurd to me, I even think it is harmful to human beings. Earning 200 million euros per season will ruin youe inside, unless you are very straight and have other hobbies. “I think football will soon fall into depression, because it is not natural for someone to earn such huge sums.”
Javi Poves led a flat earth movement and references it. “If I took one good thing away from Flat Earth, it was that a lot of people started studying and seeing if it was possible. The slogan was “the truth-seeking team.” We encouraged people to start asking questions. I am saying that the world is not a sphere, This is technically impossible. Everything suggests that it is a plain, but I no longer have the technical means to reach this definitive conclusion. It’s curious, but there is a very strong movement on a global scale that is calling this into question.
