The PSOE of Granada demanded the resignation of Almudena Estévez, councilor of the Popular Party at the City Hall of Vegas del Genil (Granada), after encouraging the man who hit Pedro Sánchez. The mayor, in charge of Social Assistance, Family and Elders of the Consistory, published a message on her WhatsApp profile in which she proposed to make a joke to the attacker of the President of the Government last Sunday in Paiporta (Valencia) . , during the visit he made with the kings and the president of the Generalitat Valenciana, Carlos Mazón. This media contacted the town councilor and mayor without receiving a response.
Concretely, Almudena Estévez published the following message: “Does anyone have the phone number of the man with the stick? I would like to make him a rookie. A publication that he posted on his WhatsApp status and which remained public for several hours. His words demonstrate strong support for the person who attacked Sánchez last weekend and against whom the Civil Guard has opened an investigation to arrest him. As of now, a man accused of ramming the presidential car has already been arrested.
It should be remembered that Pedro Sánchez was hit in the back with a stick as he left the scene after being taunted by a group of people, presumably linked to far-right groups. It is for this reason that the PSOE of Granada asks councilor Almueda Estévez to leave her post by publishing a message that “praises” the actions of the president’s attacker.
The PSOE calls this “aberrant”
The socialist spokesperson for the Vegas del Genil City Hall, Leandro Martín, considers it “aberrant” for a councilor to promote “violence and hatred”. “He cannot continue for another minute as a member of the Vegas del Genil government team.” Even more so, explains the socialist, when the councilor is responsible for taking care of “families and seniors in the municipality”.
While the PP distances itself from the actions of its advisor, but does not answer the question of whether it will demand her resignation from her post, the PSOE addresses its complaints to the provincial leadership of the Popular Party. They believe that the president of the party and first leader of the Provincial Council, Francisco Rodríguez, “must take measures” against Estévez. “In line with the values of respect that must guide political action, Rodríguez must publicly and forcefully condemn this fact and ask the councilor to abandon all her public functions because she cannot continue to assume her political responsibility,” declares Ana Muñoz, secretary organization of the PSOE of Granada.
However, this is not the only example of a politician linked to Granada who, in recent days, has shown support for the author of the attack on Pedro Sánchez. Without going any further, the national deputy of Vox for Granada, Jacobo González-Robatto, published a message in .
