The head of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), Rafael Grossi, called on Israel to refrain from attacking Iranian nuclear facilities.
The statement was made during his official visit to Tehran.
“Nuclear facilities should not be attacked,” he said, commenting on recent statements by Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz that Iran “has become more vulnerable than ever.”
Rafael Grossi also highlighted the importance of achieving concrete results in negotiations with Tehran to avoid a large-scale conflict in the Middle East.
“It is now essential to achieve real and tangible progress that demonstrates that joint efforts lead to improvements and move us away from the risk of large-scale war,” he said.
At the same time, the head of the Iranian nuclear agency, Mohammad Eslami, stated that his country is willing to take retaliatory measures against any resolution that prevents the development of its nuclear program.
“Any resolution directed against the Islamic Republic will trigger immediate countermeasures,” he stressed in his statement.
Earlier, Kursor reported that Tehran announced that it was willing to negotiate over its nuclear program, but made clear that it had no intention of holding a dialogue “under pressure and threats.”
This statement was made by the Iranian Foreign Minister, Abbas Araqchi, during a meeting with the head of the IAEA, Rafael Grossi. He said the meeting was of great importance and reaffirmed Iran’s “commitment” to compliance with the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT).
The minister highlighted that the parties agreed to act with determination and good will. Araqchi noted that Iran has always been willing to negotiate and is willing to discuss all issues based on its national interests and rights, but not under pressure and threats.
