Experts have recorded a water leak in one of the reactors at the Zaporozhye Nuclear Power Plant (ZNPP). This was reported on October 31 on the official website of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA).
It is clarified that IAEA experts visited power unit number 1 after receiving information about a water leak in the reactor coolant pump support system. To carry out the work it was necessary to reduce the pressure in the primary circuit to atmospheric levels. On Thursday the team was informed that the welding work had been completed and that radiographic inspections of the welds were continuing.
“The Agency will continue to closely monitor this issue, although we do not see any immediate concerns for nuclear safety. “Overall, we have identified regular equipment maintenance, which is vital to ensure sustainable nuclear safety, as a problem area for the Zaporozhye NPP during the conflict.” — said the director general of the IAEA Rafael Grossi.
