The chief prosecutor of the International Criminal Court (ICC), Karim Khan, attempted to influence the progress of the case on sexual harassment charges, The Guardian reports citing sources.
Khan was previously accused of misconduct towards a colleague. So the ICC did not clarify the essence of the accusations against the prosecutor. Khan denied the allegations of inappropriate behavior and called them lies.
ICC officials told The Guardian that the prosecutor sexually assaulted a female employee in her 30s. After she made the allegations, Khan and her colleague urged the victim to withdraw her claim. Four sources from the publication indicated that the prosecutor tried to influence the woman through phone calls and in person.
According to the newspaper, Khan behaved inappropriately towards his colleague for a long period. The charges against him also include coercion and abuse of power, RBC clarifies.
