“If everything continues like this, we will have no other choice”

Footballers are considering a strike given the number of games scheduled for this season. Manchester City striker Rodrigo Hernández spoke about this situation at the press conference ahead of the Champions League match.

“From my experience, I can say that playing 60 or 70 games is not optimal,” the Spanish national team midfielder said on Tuesday.

“A player can be able to be at the highest level if he plays between 40 and 50 games, then his performance will decrease. This year we could reach 80, and in my humble opinion, that is too much,” Rodri denounces.

He believes it would be better for the show if there were fewer games: “It can’t all be money and marketing, the important thing is the quality of the show. In my opinion, if I’m not tired, I can do better. If people want to see better football, then we have to rest.”

Asked about a possible strike by footballers, he assured that it is a “widespread opinion”: “It is a widely held opinion among the players, and if everything continues like this, we will have no other choice. I think it is something that really worries us, those of us who “We are the ones who suffer from it”.

“These situations are resolved with mental health, trying to be strong, oiling the machine, winning and doing well. We have had a good start to the season in this area because the earlier you start a good streak, the easier it is to be as fit as possible and as strong mentally as possible,” said the midfielder.
