President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev On August 30, the head of the Azerbaijan-Turkey interparliamentary friendship group, Shamil Ayrim, received a delegation of members of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey.
AZERTAC reports that Shamil Ayrym, who thanked the Head of State for the reception, conveyed to the Head of State greetings from Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan.
President Ilham Aliyev thanked the Turkish President for his greetings and asked to convey his regards to the Head of State of Türkiye.
The guest said that he will participate in the parliamentary elections of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey with a large delegation as an observer. Referring to the importance of these elections being the first parliamentary elections held throughout the territory of Azerbaijan, Shamil Ayrim stressed the importance of fully ensuring our sovereignty and territorial integrity.
He expressed his gratitude to President Ilham Aliyev for the presence of the President of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus at the informal summit of the Heads of State of the Organization of Turkic States held in Shusha and the President of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus.
Shamil Ayrim stressed that the brotherhood and friendship of the presidents of Azerbaijan and Turkey define the roadmap of relations between our countries. Stating that Azerbaijan’s development and its achievements arouse a great sense of pride in Turkey, the guest stressed that our country is the bright star of the Caucasus.
Referring to the growing role of Azerbaijan in international relations, Shamil Ayrim highlighted the injustice and inequality towards our delegation in various international institutions, especially in the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe.
Shamil Ayrim said that they support the measures taken by Azerbaijan to ensure lasting peace in the region.
Noting that the preparations for COP29 to be held in Azerbaijan were going very well, the guest wished our country success in this international event.
The Head of State stressed the importance of brotherhood and strategic partnership between Azerbaijan and Turkey and noted that our countries always stand by each other.
Addressing the regional situation, President Ilham Aliyev said that Azerbaijan is in favor of ensuring lasting peace in the region. The Head of State stressed that for this, as he has already mentioned many times, it is necessary to remove territorial claims against Azerbaijan in the Constitution of Armenia and change the Constitution. The President of Azerbaijan stressed that the OSCE Minsk Group, which is a relic of the past, and the institutions related to it should be completely abolished. The Head of our State said that Armenia’s position on not abolishing the Minsk Group is in no way understandable: “Because if the conflict is already a thing of the past and the Prime Minister of Armenia says that he supports the territorial integrity of Azerbaijan, then what is the need to maintain the Minsk Group, which is a vestige of the past?!” The Head of our State said that it seems that Armenia is not interested in the peace settlement and achieving lasting peace in the region. The Azerbaijani president noted that Armenia is deliberately prolonging the time, buying new weapons from France, other Western countries and other parties, and conducting military exercises with third parties on its territory.
Referring to the unfair and unjust attitude of anti-Azerbaijani forces towards our country in a number of Western institutions, the Head of State stressed that the position against us in the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe is directly related to their ensuring our territorial integrity and sovereignty.
President Ilham Aliyev stressed Azerbaijan’s continued support for the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus and noted the importance of the participation of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus in the informal summit meeting of the Organization of Turkic States held in Shusha.
