Bonvehí was president of PDeCAT between July 2018 and October 2023, when the party was dissolved, and was a member of the Parliament of Catalonia from 2010 to 2017, first in the ranks of CiU and later in those of Junts pel Sí Ami de. Carles Puigdemont He had a political career within the Convergència Democràtica de Catalunya (CDC) until reaching the leadership of CiU.
After the dissolution of the CDC and the Unió Democràtica de Catalunya (UDC), Bonvehi (Fonollosa, Barcelona, 1979) was one of those responsible for the creation of the PDeCAT, as the heir party of the CDC.
