In Afghanistan, men were banned from shaving their beards and wearing jeans

In Afghanistan, men are prohibited from shaving their beards and wearing jeans.

Oku.Az “The Washington Post” writes about this.

The code of laws published in late August reportedly introduced restrictions for men in addition to many prohibitions for women. Short “Western” hairstyles and beards shorter than fists are banned in the country.

Furthermore, imitating non-Muslims in terms of appearance, dress and behavior, men are prohibited from looking at women other than their wives and relatives.

The new laws gave morality police the power to detain suspects for up to three days. If the violation is systematic, the perpetrators will be prosecuted under Sharia law. The list of punishments ranges from fines and prison terms to public flogging and stoning.
