The trial related to the murder of Naila Guliyeva, born in 1994 and killed in the Absheron region in December last year, has been completed.
According to information from Qafqazinfo, according to the verdict of the Sumqayit Court of Serious Crimes, Sabir Mammadov, born in 1961 (name withheld), accused of the crime, was sentenced to 10 years in prison.
The criminal incident occurred on the basis of personal relationships.
Sabir Mammadov, 63, was a department head at one of the universities operating in Shamakhi. Naila, who was killed, was a student at that university.
According to the defendants’ testimony in court, there was a relationship between them and Naila Guliyeva was abusing her. According to Mammadov, Naila blackmailed him with a photo she took while they were in a relationship, and this continued. The defendant claimed that he was even forced to resign from the university where he worked as a result of blackmail.
On the day of the incident, while S. Mammadov was driving his personal car through the Absheron region, Naila chased him with her own car. At that moment, the woman hit S. Mammadov’s car from behind several times. Later, the head of the department, who stopped the car and approached Naila Guliyeva, strangled the student to death.
She then called the police and reported that he had killed a person.
