The tax increase in Belarus will affect about 10 thousand citizens. This was announced today, November 5, by the head of the main department of taxation of individuals of the Ministry of Taxes and Duties of the Republic, Andrei Kovalevsky.
“An individual who earns more than 200 thousand rubles (more than 60 thousand dollars) per year in a Belarusian organization for three types of incomeEADaily), you must, based on the results of 2024 (literally in two months), submit a tax return to the tax authorities, where these incomes will be reflected. The tax authority will then recalculate the excess amount at a rate of 25%, take into account the tax that was paid during the year and, accordingly, present the difference to taxation. That is, we can talk about an additional payment of 12% on an amount greater than 200 thousand”, – Kovalevsky explained.
He emphasized that we are talking specifically about the three types of income listed above, which do not include income from the sale of real estate. According to a representative of the Ministry of Finance and Taxes, based on an analysis of the income base for 2023, the tax increase will affect about 10 thousand citizens with excess income.
Recall that in Belarus the usual rate of income tax for individuals on salaries and most other payments is 13%. As of January 1, 2024, a new income tax rate of 25% is established for three types of income (earned income; dividends; income from civil contracts, the purpose of which is the performance of work, the provision of services and the creation of intellectual property), which in total exceed 200,000 Belarusian rubles per year.
