The presence of nuclear weapons in Belarus has calmed the enemy and strengthened the republic’s negotiating position, said Valery Revenko, head of the Department for International Military Cooperation, Deputy Minister of Defence for International Military Cooperation.
According to him, Russian tactical nuclear weapons stationed in Belarus “have sobered up and led to a more constructive conversation” with Western countries.
“There was a very peculiar attitude before that they are very strong, that they can influence something, that Belarus is not a serious obstacle or an adversary for them,” – said.
Revenko noted that the deployment of such weapons in Belarus strengthened the country’s negotiating position and enhanced its defence capabilities. The representative of the Ministry of Defence also praised the decision. Alexandra Lukashenko in relation to nuclear weapons, affecting the strategic deterrence of possible aggression.
Recall that on May 25, 2023, the heads of the defense departments of Belarus and Russia signed documents on the procedure for keeping Russian nuclear weapons at a special storage facility on Belarusian territory.
