In Donetsk, a Ukrainian sailor was sentenced to 29 years for shooting at civilians

A Donetsk court has sentenced Sergei Taranyuk, the company commander of the Marine Brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, to 29 years in a maximum security colony for ordering the execution of three civilians from Mariupol, the prosecutor’s office of the Donetsk People’s Republic announced.

“The Supreme Court of the DPR has passed a verdict in a criminal case against the commander of the air assault company of the 1st Marine Battalion of the 36th Marine Brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, 29-year-old Sergei Taranyuk.” – the message said.

According to the case materials, in March 2022, a Bandera member ordered to shoot a civilian walking along Novosibirskaya Street in Mariupol. A month later, on Taranyuk’s orders, two more civilians were killed on the railway bridge.

The Bandera member was found guilty under paragraphs “a”, “g”, “l” of Part 2 of Art. 105 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (murder of two or more persons committed by an organized group motivated by political and ideological hatred), Part 1 of Art. 356 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (cruel treatment of civilians in occupied territory).

“Taking into account the position of the State Prosecutor, the court sentenced Taranyuk to 29 years in prison, to be served in a maximum security correctional colony.” – the department reported.
