In France, due to risks of electricity shortages, a coal-fired combined heat and power (CHP) plant was reactivated. This was reported by the Day FR Euro news site with reference to the AFP agency.

As the portal clarifies, normally one of the two coal mines in France, the Saint-Avold thermal power plant, starts up when the cold weather arrives and the system is under special stress. On average, the thermal power plant operates about twenty days a year.
