Georgian Dream did not invite foreign ambassadors to the first meeting of the 11th Parliament, which will take place on November 25.
According to the president of Parliament Shalva Papuashvilithis is done to “minimize undue influence from foreigners.”
In the modern history of Georgia, ambassadors from partner countries have always been present at the first sessions of new convocations of parliament.
As Papuashvili noted, the convening of a new parliament is “a personal celebration of the Georgian dream, of the Georgian people,” and the presence of foreign citizens is not necessary.
The opposition that lost the elections is also preparing for the meeting. On that day, opposition associations intend to organize a large-scale demonstration near the parliament building to demand new parliamentary elections.
