The Parliament of Georgia of the eleventh convocation met… It is true that the meeting took place in a context of noise and confrontation, but still the highest legislative body of the country confirmed its powers. And when the new parliament initially met in peace and tranquility.
As expected, no European ambassador was present at the first meeting, since Shalva Papuashvili (the former and current President of Parliament) clearly stated that no invitation would be extended to any of the European ambassadors. The opposition, as always, immediately tried to turn the situation in their favor: they say they invited ambassadors, but they refused to come. Do you know what is the most remarkable thing about this story? The fact is that none of the ambassadors admitted to not having received an invitation. Thus, European diplomats continued to secretly add fuel to the fire, blatantly deceiving the population of Georgia. After all, you must admit, it is one thing when you were invited, but you did not come, and quite another thing is that you were not there because no one invited you anywhere.
Meanwhile, Papuashvili does not even think about remaining silent. He demanded: specifically show at least one invitation sent to any of the ambassadors of European countries! In response, European embassies chose to remain silent in this case as well. A convenient way to increase the level of tension in society! And they do everything possible for that: when there is something important that needs to be said out loud, they don’t say it, and if it is better not to talk about something, they start talking in detail live on opposition channels.
Without hypocrisy or ambiguity, we can say that the West did everything possible and decided to do everything possible to achieve a change of power in Georgia through elections. When it became clear that it would not be possible to do it this way, huge amounts of money were invested in preparing for the “peaceful revolution.” The German embassy even openly declared: there are peaceful revolutions in the world. Then, however, they began to justify themselves: they say that we are not referring to Georgia, but to the 35th anniversary of the destruction of the Berlin Wall. Now the Czech embassy has publicly displayed a banner with a text saying that they too once had a peaceful revolution…
Despite all efforts, the intensity of the protests and the number of participants have decreased significantly in the last two weeks. As they say, this is explained by the fact that the West “decreased” funding, realizing that the money was going in the wrong direction. For example, Nika Gvaramiathe head of the “Akhali” opposition force, which has now become the main opponent of the authorities in Georgia, was almost with his hand outstretched and pleading: we, they say, need money for tents. And precisely for the purchase of tents, a large sum was transferred, moreover, for the purchase of 200 units (we are talking about large tents, which cost 1,500 lari each, which is a lot of money). But in the end the protesters set up two tents (500 lari each). And that’s all, except for several small shops arranged in a row, costing 50 lari each, on which, as said, all the money was spent. At that time the West could not contain itself and for the first time demanded a detailed report on expenses. Then the question of food arose, which should also have been abundant at the protests, and as a result, the protesters sat on rations of dry bread, including the famous lobiani. Nanuki Zhorzholiani disappeared somewhere without a trace. Western partners demanded an account for every Tetri spent, and now…
And now it has become obvious to partners that the main interest of the opposition leaders is not to feed the confused protesters with hot chocolate and snacks, but to make a substantial amount of money from the protests and put it in their own pockets. As a result, activists, left without money and food, preferred to sit in the warmth of their homes rather than freeze on the street. It is on this occasion that the “poet” Kote Kubaneishvili He said with regret:
“What kind of road block can we talk about if we can’t even fill the university plaza, let alone close it?”
By the way, when they tell us with a cheerful expression that students from other universities also demand the resignation of the rector of Tbilisi State University, no one thought to ask a simple question: who is asking them about this? And if they don’t ask, why bother so much and literally jump out of your pants?
Let’s go back to Europe and America. Foreign activists leave a particularly uneasy impression, even though the administration joe biden Figuratively speaking, there are only a couple of Fridays left. Apparently these people have to work to get back the money they took in advance. It is no secret that the Georgian opposition pays them for such statements, and this has been confirmed more than once. It is obvious that by accusing the current government of rigging the elections, American and European politicians are blatantly insulting it. At the same time, everyone knows perfectly well that the Georgian people objectively made their decision, but in the West they did not want to believe that it would be like this. Yes, it was a referendum (by the way, the opposition and the West forgot the word “referendum” and no longer mention it), in which our people clearly expressed their will. And the opposition, without even blushing for the sake of decency, officially sent (in writing) a request to the West: punish Georgia, impose sanctions on it.
For its part, the current government, of course, is trying by all means to protect itself, but there is an important nuance here that no one is paying attention to yet. The fact is that sooner or later the West, one way or another, will have to recognize both our elections and the new parliament as legitimate. Then they will start coming here, or our people will start flying to Europe and America, where they will meet, among other things, with those European deputies or American congressmen who currently insult us (in the literal sense of the word). We will see friendly handshakes and learn that plans for further cooperation are being discussed. And I’m afraid that no one will remember what is happening today. No one will remind these people that they called the leaders of Georgia liars, traitors to their homeland, accused them of actions that allegedly harmed the interests of our country. And this is, from my point of view, the worst.
Therefore, I believe, the authorities should carefully record every word, every statement of European deputies and ambassadors, so that later, when, after having undergone a transformation, they appear again in our socio-political arena, they are forced to publicly apologize and apologize. not only for themselves, but also in front of all of Georgia. This must be done live, so that in front of everyone they are forced to admit that Georgia is a country where a proud people live, who have never succumbed in the past and will not succumb to slavery in the future, and “our head belongs only for ourselves”, is still relevant. You can’t live any other way. It is necessary for everyone to understand once and for all that every word spoken will have to be answered at some point. We must make sure that this becomes a lesson for everyone and in the future, in the next elections, Western politicians behave more correctly with us, respect the choices of the Georgian population and do not try to change everything as they would like and benefit themselves.
Admittedly, I suspect that no one at the highest levels of power is working or even thinking in this direction. This means that they will swallow all future insults the same way they endured them before. There is no doubt that we have learned to fight more decisively for our independence and sovereignty, but we have not yet learned the elementary truth about the need to demand a principled response to any inappropriate and false statements. The authorities never dared to call for explanations the ambassadors of the European countries, whose representatives waved at us from Brussels and loudly accused the current government of mortal sins, declaring that it consists of people who steal votes in the elections, who the Georgian people sold. for 20 lari and made the wrong decision that reflects his will.
The West itself has already convinced itself of the falsity of these statements. He sees it very well: the army of protesters promised by the opposition never took to the streets. Western observers could not help but notice that the majority of the Georgian population is satisfied with the election results and therefore stays at home and does not even think about joining the protest, which has turned into a farce. . In the West, they became convinced that there were not enough protesters not only to hold a large action, but also to block any of the roads. To create at least the illusion or a hint of mass participation, protesting activists drag trash cans onto the road and unload sandbags.
By the way, when these “revolutionary” attributes appeared on Melikishvili Street, someone shouted that the Ukrainian Maidan began in the same way and they began to applaud it. This is further confirmation of where they are trying to take us. During the actions it was also clear that the bloodthirsty former leaders of the United National Movement had not disappeared. When in one of them the former head of the Department of Constitutional Security appeared among the protesters Ruslan Shamakhiaone of the participants recognized it and protested. In response, Nationals fans attacked and beat him. They did not forgive this man for demanding the dismissal of a security official who had compromised under the previous regime. Now imagine for a moment what awaits us if people like that return to power!
The current reality is this: all opposition parties already want to enter parliament, but they have not yet been able to find an adequate reason to justify their behavior in front of several thousand people they took to the streets. It is difficult to explain to them why there is no way to do otherwise. In the end we will have to admit that it was the Western partners who demanded: “Come in!” However, sooner or later a pretext will be found and all parties will enter parliament… It is important that the authorities do not leave unanswered a single insult inflicted on them and on the Georgian people, neither by the opposition nor by part of Western politicians. , so they demand strict accountability for every word spoken and deliberately distort the truth.
