The deputy (LIOT) of the third district of Guadalupe, 68 years old, was tried for “abuse of trust, theft, misappropriation or destruction of property in a public warehouse” while he was director of the Pointe-à-Pitre School Fund.
The facts refer to the use of a fuel card and the sale of two vehicles by the Caisse des écoles, between August 12, 2014 and September 3, 2014, when Mathiasin headed the structure, before being elected. deputy in 2017.
In reality, the two vehicles were leased and did not belong to the Caisse des écoles, but to the company Bred Cofilease, whose constitution as a civil party was maintained, as was that of the Caisse des écoles. Bred mentions damages of just over 7,000 euros. The fuel card would have been used for just over 6,000 euros.
No penalty of ineligibility
Two other men, the former vice-president of the board of directors of the Caisse des écoles and a former municipal agent, were also tried in this case, but were acquitted by the court on Tuesday.
On October 22, the Pointe-à-Pitre prosecutor’s office requested eighteen months of suspended prison, a fine of 10,000 euros and a sentence of ineligibility with provisional execution against Max Mathiasin, which the court did not accept.
The prosecutor had requested twelve months of suspended prison and a fine of 5,000 euros against the former vice-president of the board of directors of the Caisse des écoles, and six months of suspended prison and a fine of 5,000 euros against the former municipal agent.
