A special operation of the National Security Committee (NSC) has been carried out in several regions of Kazakhstan, during which 50 members of organized criminal groups (OCGs) were detained, the press service of the department reported.
According to the published information, the arrests took place in Astana, Alma-Ata, Shymkent, as well as in the regions of Aktobe, Atyrau, Alma-Ata, Zhetysu, West Kazakhstan and Pavlodar.
In total, 50 people were brought to justice. They are all suspected of organizing a channel for the theft of property and cars on a particularly large scale, as well as financing organized crime.
“Using trust, they stole property from more than 20 people for more than 2 billion tenge (500 million rubles, EADaily note). The group had a clear hierarchy and distribution of roles. It consisted of representatives of criminals and a destructive religious environment, including those serving sentences in a correctional facility,” – says the message.
During the searches, bank cards, large amounts of money, extremist literature, records of money transfers and other items of interest to the investigation were discovered.
