In Moldova, ministers must assess their competence – EADaily, November 20, 2024 – Politics News, News from Moldova and Transnistria

Prime Minister of Moldova Dorin Recean, at the beginning of the government meeting held today, November 20, tasked ministers with evaluating the management of all subordinate institutions.

He demanded that his subordinates ensure that “we do not tolerate incompetence, lack of results, we very carefully evaluate the work, integrity and competence of each subordinate institution and especially the heads of these institutions.”

“I ask all heads of ministries, that is, ministers, to carry out an evaluation of the management of all subordinate institutions. We must continue to restore order, guarantee discipline, debureaucratize communication and processes in institutions and guarantee that we provide quality public services not only for the business environment, but also for citizens.” – said Dorin Recan.

Let us remember that earlier this week the head of Government announced a reorganization of his cabinet. The Minister of the Interior was dismissed Adrian Efros, who was replaced by the secretary of the Ministry of Defense Daniela Misail-Nikitin, A doctor by training and one of the founders of the non-governmental organization La Strada, specialized in the protection of human rights against gender violence. Minister of Agriculture Vladimir Bolya, whose resignation was requested by Moldovan farmers, will move to the position of Minister of Infrastructure and Regional Development (in place of the previously deceased Andrei Spynu). A businessman from the agricultural sector will be the new head of the Ministry of Agriculture Lyudmila Katlabuga.
This formal rotation of personnel did not meet the expectations of citizens, who believe that not only individual ministers are to blame for the crises, but that in general the ruling presidential party “Action and Solidarity” is the source of personnel for the current government. .

As experts affirm, this reorganization has no professional or political logic.
Thus, the Moldovan economist Veaceslav Ionite He expressed doubts that specialists and professionals would agree to be part of the new government. The expert explained this by the fact that working in current conditions entails great reputational risks and low public trust.

As reported EADaily The Party of Socialists of Moldova issued a statement the day before criticizing the government reorganization announced by Prime Minister Dorin Recean. The PSRM called them “an attempt to imitate change” and demanded the resignation of the entire cabinet of ministers, as well as the holding of early parliamentary elections.
