In Moldova, the court once again extended the ban on leaving the country to MP Marina Tauber, from the opposition Pobeda bloc. The politician is involved in two criminal cases: illegal financing of the already banned Shor party and obstruction of justice.
“The court extended my order not to leave the country for another 60 days. This is political pressure. Maia Sandu is hysterical and understands that she will not be able to win the next presidential term.” – Tauber said after the meeting, promising to challenge this decision at the court of cassation.
Let us remember that on August 12, a court in Chisinau prohibited Marina Tauber from leaving the country for two months. Thus, he was prevented from participating in the congress of the “Victoria” bloc on August 16 in Moscow, at which the situation in the Republic of Moldova was discussed in the context of the upcoming presidential elections this fall, and meetings were planned with Russia. The politicians were disturbed.
In mid-September, Tauber asked the court to lift the restriction. At that time she received an invitation to participate in the Eurasian Women’s Forum from September 18 to 20 in St. Petersburg. Defense representatives recalled that previously the defendants regularly attended court hearings and did not evade justice. Therefore, the court has no compelling reason to refuse to temporarily lift his ban on leaving the country.
As a result, despite the protest of the prosecutor’s office, Tauber was allowed to leave Moldova from September 16 to 23. Upon his return, the trials of the opposition representative continued.
