In the Polish town of Brzeziny, Lodz Voivodeship, an 18-year-old Ukrainian citizen was arrested for throwing her newborn baby into the trash.
The baby’s body was found by a passerby in a garbage bin at a bus stop. After contacting the police, finding the mother was a matter of technicality. According to the Minsk-Mazowiecki prosecutor’s office, a young Ukrainian woman gave birth to a child in the same shelter where she lives. The examination showed that the child was born alive.
In addition to the girl’s mother, the police arrested three other people: the 18-year-old’s sister, her boyfriend and the girls’ cousin. They managed to wash away the blood residue, which is seen as an obstacle to the investigation. The Ukrainian woman has been charged with infanticide and is banned from leaving the country.
