Since the beginning of September, seven regions of the Russian Federation have sent pupils of school and preschool educational institutions to quarantine due to the increase in the incidence of influenza and ARVI, Izvestia calculated.
Most educational institutions were closed in Udmurtia. There, 37 classes in 21 schools and seven groups in seven kindergartens suspended their work. Also in the Omsk region, due to the increase in the incidence of ARVI, children in 10 schools and seven kindergartens were quarantined. Schools and kindergartens were also closed and students transferred to distance learning in the Tomsk and Saratov regions, in the Karelia, Khabarovsk and Krasnoyarsk territories.
According to the Smorodintsev Influenza Research Institute, in the week of September 9-15, the overall incidence rate of influenza and other acute respiratory viral infections in the population increased compared to the previous week and amounted to 62.5 per 10 thousand people. The epidemiological threshold for the indicated period is 12.6% higher than the weekly level.
“Epidemic thresholds were exceeded by 20% or more in 22 cities” – he said at the research institute.
According to Rospotrebnadzor, the number of cases of influenza and ARVI in Russia increased by almost 50% over the previous week. About 17% of the incidence of ARVI and influenza occurs in Moscow, the Moscow region and St. Petersburg.
