In Taiwan, more than 660 people were injured by the typhoon

In Taiwan, two people were killed and 667 injured as a result of Typhoon Kraton, Focus Taiwan reports, citing the local Emergency Management Center.

The Craton struck the southwest of the island on the morning of October 3, causing heavy rain and flooding. The most affected were the city of Kaohsiung (population: more than 2.7 million people) and Pingtung County (about 800 thousand people). In populated areas this day was declared a day off.

Reuters writes that in Kaohsiung, as a result of the disaster, the streets were flooded and the windows of buildings were broken. In the city, according to the authorities, more than 2 thousand trees were cut down, including on roads. Most households in both Kaohsiung and Pingtung remained without power the next day, October 4.

More than 11 thousand people across Taiwan were forced to leave their homes because of Kraton.

Typhoon Gaemi also hit Taiwan in late July, killing two people and injuring about 200 more.

Gaemi also affected Fujian province in southeast China, where more than 150,000 people were evacuated.
