During January-October 2024, a total of 8,108 criminal acts were discovered as a result of the complex investigative measures carried out by law enforcement agencies in the field of combating drug addiction and illicit drug trafficking.
Oku.Az reports that the results of the fight against drug addiction and the illegal circulation of narcotics, psychotropic substances and their precursors were recorded in the information of the permanent working group of the State Commission.
Of them, 2,577 were related to the illegal sale of narcotics, 5,299 were related to the illegal acquisition and possession of narcotics, 226 were related to the illegal planting and cultivation of narcotic plants, and 6 were related to other crimes.
6 tons 61 kg 819,096 g of narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances, 512 kg 164,959 g of heroin, 5 tons 8 kg 382,751 g of marijuana, 154 kg of 257.47 g of opium, 38 kg of 852,443 g of hashish, 191 kg 744,959 g of psychotropic substances, 156 kg 416,514 g of other drugs. In addition, during the indicated period, 37,317 units of methadone, 15,272 units of hemp bushes, 44 grams and 240 pills of a powerful substance and 10 grams of precursors were seized in illegal circulation.
6,247 people were prosecuted for illegal drug trafficking, including one person aged 16 to 18, 463 aged 18 to 25, two aged 20 to 25, 946 aged 26 to 29 and 4,835 aged 30 and over. Of those people, 6,066 were men and 181 were women.
In total, 201 kg 615,722 g of various types of narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances were seized from 56 foreign citizens who were considered responsible.
