In the kyiv region, a man opened fire with a machine gun in a shop and two people were injured, the press service of the regional department of the National Police of Ukraine reported.
The incident occurred in the Obukhovsky district at around 14:00 local time on September 22. According to the department, the man entered the store and “started shooting randomly” before fleeing.
The saleswoman and the owner of the establishment were injured. Police said the injured received medical attention and their lives are not in danger.
The shooter was detained; it turned out to be a 36-year-old local resident who had already been convicted. A criminal case was opened against him under Part 4 of Art. 296 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (hooliganism committed with the use of a weapon), the man faces up to seven years in prison.
