The prosecutor’s office for the Southern District of New York has accused Russians Zhanna Soldatenkova and Ruslan Almetov of illegally supplying microelectronics to Russia, the US Department of Justice reports. According to him, the shipments were made jointly with Artur Petrov, extradited to the United States.
“Zhanna Soldatenkova and Ruslan Almetov are charged, along with previously indicted Artur Petrov, with conspiracy to smuggle military microelectronics for a Russian company.” – says the publication. According to investigators, they purchased and evaded sanctions sent to Russia microelectronics worth more than 225 thousand dollars. Soldatenkova and Almetov were charged with several charges, some of which face up to 20 years in prison.
Petrov was detained in Cyprus in August 2023 at the request of the United States and accused of violating sanctions. He is charged with 11 counts, including smuggling, violating export controls and money laundering. In early August 2024, Petrov was extradited to the United States.
