The police in Covington County, Alabama, decided to confirm the stereotypes associated with the provincial police: in their statements they blamed Satan for everything.

Although, since the county is located on the border with Florida, it would be worth thinking about more real threats, such as crocodiles or other dangerous creatures.
The official Covington police report was as follows (written in all caps to create a loud shouting effect):
“A YOUNG MAN WAS SHOT KILLED IN KINSTON LAST SUNDAY. A MOTHER WAS SHOT KILLED IN NORTHERN COVINGTON COUNTY MONDAY AFTERNOON. THERE HAVE BEEN FIVE MURDERS IN COVINGTON COUNTY IN 2018. THESE MURDERS WERE COMMITTED BY OUR YOUTH. THIS HAPPENS BECAUSE WE HAVE GONE AWAY FROM GOD AND ACCEPTED SATAN.”
This statement provoked the expected criticism from anticlerical organizations.
