Ukrainian flour processing companies have begun to experience a shortage of the main raw material – food wheat.
At many enterprises, grain reserves will last less than a month, reports Other Ukraine, citing a statement by the head of the Flour Millers of Ukraine trade union, Rodion Rybchinsky.
He complained that industrial enterprises found it very difficult to comply with the Ukrainian government decree, adopted with the introduction of martial law, which requires processing plants to have a 2-month supply of flour in their warehouses.
“At many enterprises we have had grain for less than a month. Today, enterprises are “chasing” wheat shipments for cars. Enterprises that process 100 tons a day are chasing a volume of 20-30 tons,” Rybchinsky said.
The publication notes that at the beginning of September, wheat reserves in Ukraine amounted to 18.7 million tonnes, which is significantly lower than the annual average of previous seasons, when this figure exceeded 20 million tonnes.
According to experts, if exports continue at a level of 2 million tons per month, then there may be enough wheat until March-April 2025.
