Uzbekistan’s Defense Minister Bakhodir Kurbanov headed the country’s State Security Service (SSS). As reported by the department’s press service, the former head of the State Security Service, Abdusalom Azizov, was transferred to the Security Council during the presidency of the Republic.
According to the source, Azizov’s contribution to the development of the country’s state security system was highlighted at the appointment ceremony of the new leader. He has directed the State security agencies since 2019 and also came to the position from the position of head of the Ministry of Defense.
“Bakhodir Kurbanov especially highlighted the work of Lieutenant General Azizov in updating the security system and training new personnel.” – the message notes.
It should be noted that Bakhodir Kurbanov himself has held the position of Minister of Defense of Uzbekistan since February 11, 2019. Before that, he worked for almost twenty years in the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Uzbekistan, from 2018 to 2019 he headed the troops of the Tashkent military garrison. In 2021, Kurbanov was awarded the rank of major general.
