Incentives increase for new contracts and work-life balance in the Community of Madrid

More economic incentives for companies to hire permanently unemployed people with special attention, and additional aid for companies and municipalities that promote actions in favor of work-family reconciliation are two of the initiatives approved yesterday by the Government Council of the Community of Madrid.

On the one hand, the Regional Executive approved the increase of 2.5 million euros in incentives for the hiring of permanently unemployed people who benefit from special attention: that is, the long-term unemployed, people returning from abroad or people over 45, especially those over 55, in addition to those who carry out their work in rural municipalities with fewer than 5,000 inhabitants.

For this purpose, there was already an allocation for this year that amounts to 25 million euros. The beneficiaries are self-employed workers, companies or private non-profit entities based in the region and that hire someone for an indefinite period in the above circumstances. They will receive aid that will vary between 5,000 and 10,000 euros, and they must remain affiliated to Social Security for a minimum of 12 months.

On the other hand, the Government Council also approved the increase of 2.4 million euros – to reach 8 – in direct aid for work-family reconciliation. This represents an increase of 42.8 percent. Actions that facilitate teleworking and flexible hours will be subsidized, such as the acquisition of electronic equipment. And its amount can reach up to 15,000 euros.

The call is now open and aid can be requested within three months of carrying out the eligible activity.

Finally, the municipalities that carry out actions to facilitate conciliation will also receive subsidies. For this purpose, a budget of 17 million euros is available, which can reach 120 municipalities in Madrid that offer professional assistance services to families with children up to 16 years old, or the creation of quality jobs in this sector for young people (free time monitors) and women over 45 years old.
