INE revises and raises GDP growth by two tenths in 2023 to 2.7%

The National Institute of Statistics (INE) examined the data from the National Accounts and collected two tenths, up to 2.7%the growth of the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) in 2023. In this way, the nominal GDP of Spain is 36.4 billion euros higher than the previous estimate, which brings the total figure to almost 1.5 billion euros end of 2023.

The revision also concerns previous years. Thus, the expansion of the Spanish economy was 6.2% in 2022 and 6.7% in 2021, with upward corrections of four and three tenths, respectively. In addition, the decrease in 2020 was 10.9%three tenths less than in the previous calculation.

With this change, Spain is one year ahead in the reduction of the debt/GDP ratiodown by almost 3 additional points in 2023, until the 105%.

“The assessment carried out by the INE, which corresponds to the periodic assessments previously established with Eurostat, also shows today good economic news“because our economy has grown more strongly in recent years and we continue to lead in economic growth among the main countries in the eurozone,” the Ministry of Economy said.
