Infectious diseases are changing their ‘character’: new territories at risk

Infectious diseases begin to spread in areas that are not typical for them.

Oku.AzAnna Popova, “Rospotrebnadzor” (Russian Federal Service for the Protection of Consumer Rights and Supervision of Human Welfare), warned this, according to vesti.ru.

According to him, this is due to the influence of natural, social and artificial factors, as well as anthropogenic influence on parasitic systems.

“The nature and manifestations of the epidemic process of many infectious diseases are actively changing,” Popova stressed.

According to the head of Rospotrebnadzor, one of the potential threats of an international emergency could be the plague.

It should be noted that today cases of plague are recorded in some regions of Africa, Asia and South America. But climate change and other factors can cause this infection to spread to new areas.

Anna Popova called on countries to cooperate in the prevention and monitoring of infectious diseases.
