The defense of former politician Íñigo Errejón has presented an appeal in which he describes the accusation of sexual assault that Elisa Mouliaá made against him as a “false complaint”, also claiming that the actress delayed the trial of “cheating” way. As reported by La Sexta, the lawyer of the former parliamentary spokesperson of Sumar filed an appeal before the Provincial Court of Madrid to challenge the judge’s decision to suspend the entire case until the lawyer from Mouliaá overcomes her “temporary incapacity” due to pregnancy.
The Madrid court, which took over the investigation after Mouliaá’s complaint to the police, summoned both of them this week to testify, Errejón as the accused. His next decision was to suspend the appearances and, in effect, leave the case pending. The lawyer who defended the actress presented a document explaining that she was in a situation of “temporary incapacity” due to her pregnancy and the magistrate accepted her request not to continue the procedure until her return at work.
Errejón decided to go directly to the Provincial Court of Madrid to appeal this decision with a letter in which he understands that this maneuver is a “deceptive” way of delaying the proceedings against him and “unjustly extending his sentence” . He adds that Mouliaá could choose “from tens of thousands of lawyers” who could immediately represent his interests in the proceedings.
“The bad faith is indisputable and the abuse of rights is indisputable,” adds lawyer Elena Gimbernat, who also specifies that the former deputy intends to testify “as soon as possible” in court to “expose the reality of the facts” . A reality which, according to Errejón, does not correspond to Mouliaá’s “false complaint”.
The actress and television presenter went to the police shortly after journalist Cristina Fallarás published various testimonies denouncing sexist attitudes attributed to Errejón. The former MP himself admitted some of these facts to his party before leaving all his political responsibilities and resigning. In his complaint, Mouliaá says he met Errejón at a party in September 2021, where the former politician touched him in various ways without his consent.
