The organizers of the legendary Burning Man festival have unveiled a large-scale installation “Nova Heaven”, dedicated to the victims of the Supernova music festival, which was brutally disrupted by the terrorist attack on October 7, 2023.
On that tragic day, Hamas terrorists attacked a festival in Israel, killing around 400 people and taking dozens hostage. This act of violence shocked the world and led to the creation of special events at Burning Man intended to honor the memory of those killed.
The Burning Man festival, held annually in Nevada’s Black Rock Desert, is known as a symbol of freedom, creativity and radical self-expression. This year the festival will also become a platform for expressing solidarity with the victims of the terrorist attack. As part of the festival’s commemorative events, a replica of the multi-coloured tent that stood at the centre of the Nova festival will be created. This installation has already been featured in exhibitions in Tel Aviv, New York and Los Angeles.
Cursor previously reported that key elements of “Nova Heaven” will be a large artistic composition in the shape of a gate with the motto “We will dance again,” which has become a symbol of resilience and hope in the wake of the tragedy. Also on display will be 405 laser-cut angels representing the victims of the Nova festival and a spiral staircase with 100 messages in English and Hebrew, including words like “love conquers all” and “compassion unites us.”
The organizers of the Burning Man festival, which runs until September 2, emphasize the importance of preserving the memory of the tragedy and expressing it through art. Nova Heaven team members are already actively creating elements of the installation that will serve as a reminder of how important it is to continue living and dancing, despite tragedies.
