Today, September 30, a meeting was held in Moscow between the Chairman of the State Duma, Vyacheslav Volodin, and the Chairman of the Advisory Council of the Sultanate of Oman, Khaled Ben Hilal Al-Maawali. The issues of Russian-Omani interparliamentary interaction and promising areas of economic cooperation were discussed.
The Chairman of the Consultative Council of Oman is in Russia on an official visit at the invitation of the Russian side.
“Vyacheslav Volodin and Khaled Ben Hilal Al-Maawali discussed issues of Russian-Omani interparliamentary interaction and promising areas of economic cooperation. The Chairman of the State Duma stressed that Russia and Oman traditionally maintain friendly relations and the visit of the Chairman of the Sultanate’s Consultative Council to Moscow will give new impetus to the development of relations between the legislative bodies of the two countries.” – says a message on the Duma website.
According to Volodin, relations between Russia and Oman are developing thanks to dialogue between the countries’ leaders: Vladimir Putin AND Haytham bin Tariq Al Said.
“The main task of legislators is to do everything possible to ensure the implementation of agreements and decisions made at the level of heads of state.” – he emphasized.
“We consider it correct to discuss new formats of cooperation to find solutions to the problems that exist today, contributing to the development of relations between our peoples,” – added the parliamentarian.
To develop interparliamentary dialogue, Volodin proposed signing a cooperation agreement between the State Duma and the Omani Consultative Council.

The State Duma speaker also thanked his Omani colleagues for supporting the Russian resolution against the glorification of Nazism at the UN General Assembly.
“The position of the Sultanate of Oman in all UN headquarters is to always support justice in all aspects.” – highlighted the spokesperson for the Omani Consultative Council.
The meeting also paid special attention to socioeconomic cooperation between the two countries and the development of ties in the field of tourism.
According to the chairman of the State Duma, it is correct to create favorable conditions for the growth of mutual investments.
“We are talking about the construction of a new infrastructure in the financial and banking sector, the use of national currencies, payment systems independent of Western states.” – he clarified.
