Investigation begins against two socialist councilors of Alcalá for awarding contracts to relatives

This Monday begins the commission of inquiry into the award of contracts to relatives of two children socialist advisors when the PSOE governed in Alcalá de Henares, under the mandate of Javier Rodriguez Palacios. This commission comes after the government of the Alcalá de Henares City Council, now in the hands of the Popular Party, ordered the preparation of two files of confidential information to investigate the possible existence of irregularities in order to verify that these events could constitute a disciplinary offense. or any other type of liability.

After two internal investigations into contracts awarded to companies linked to those close to the socialist councilors, the plenary session of the Alcalá City Council, held in September, approved the creation of this commission to determine the political and judicial responsibilities what could the previous mayor and his government team of which these two advisors were part of and whose relatives benefited from the rewards could have borne.

The Commission intends to clarify whether the Public sector contract law which specifies that legal entities whose capital includes spouses, people linked by a similar relationship of emotional cohabitation, ascendants and descendants, as well as second-degree blood relatives, cannot contract with the administration.

During the first meeting this Monday, the first deputy mayor will be proposed as president of the Commission, Isabelle Ruiz Maldonadoand the different representatives of the political groups will be named. In addition, during the same session, the schedule of appearances will be established.

“Beyond the legal responsibilities which could be settled in court and to which we will of course go, the current government team wishes to clarify all these responsibilities. Not only appointed advisors, but also members of the corporation and other temporary and trusted senior officials of the previous government, immersed in this “irregular and amoral hiring procedure with family members”they explained from the Popular Party of Alcalá.

Contracts with family members

The Alcalá de Henares City Council has commissioned the company A3 design and printing 18 minor contracts. Its only administrator is the advisor’s husband of equalityPatricia Sanchez.

The contracts represent a budget of 34,000 euros throughout the legislature, for services such as backpacks, pens… Added to this amount are invoices issued by the public entity Alcalá Desarrollo for an amount of 16,000 euros.

The other contract that affects councilor Blanca Ibarra concerns the injection of 5,000 euros of advertising to the media run by someone close to this mayor.
