France, Germany and the UK have condemned Iran for supplying ballistic missiles to Russia, leading to the introduction of new sanctions against Tehran.
In their joint statement, representatives of these three countries, the so-called Eurotroika, said they had received confirmed information about the transfer of missiles by Iran to the Russian side. They stressed that this step by Iran and Russia leads to an escalation of the conflict and poses a serious threat to the security of Europe.
The Eurotroika also announced its intention to take specific measures, the first of which would be the cancellation of bilateral air services agreements with Iran. In addition, they plan to include the Iranian airline Iran Air on the sanctions lists, as well as other companies and individuals associated with the development of Iranian ballistic missiles. In their statement, France, Germany and the United Kingdom called on Iran to immediately stop all support for the Russian occupation war in Ukraine and to abandon the development and transfer of missiles.
Iran was quick to respond to these accusations and threats of sanctions. The country’s Foreign Ministry has called reports of arms sales to Russia “false propaganda” that it claims is aimed at concealing Israeli military assistance in the operation in the Gaza Strip.
