Iran is preparing to take legal action against Israel and plans to sue it in international courts. The ISNA news agency, which is closely linked to the regime, reports that along with the intention to respond militarily to the assassination of Ismail Haniya in central Tehran, the Iranian government is also considering the possibility of prosecuting Israel for this incident.
According to sources close to the news organization, Iranian authorities intend to file a lawsuit against Israel, accusing it of “violating sovereignty” and calling Haniyeh’s liquidation an act of “political terrorism.” Iranian officials view the case as a serious violation of international law and intend to hold Israel accountable globally.
Recently, senior officials from Iran’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Justice held a meeting to discuss possible international measures against Israel. Although Iran does not officially recognize Israel’s existence, Iranian lawyers are working to overcome this obstacle and find legal avenues to file a lawsuit.
One proposed option is to file a claim against Israel through a third country that recognizes it. This approach will allow Iran to present its claims on the international stage, despite the lack of diplomatic relations with Israel. Iran is trying to draw on the analogy of South Africa’s case against Israel before the International Court, which was brought on behalf of the Palestinians.
Following this example, the Iranian authorities hope to use legal mechanisms to file a lawsuit against Israel, representing their country’s interests through an intermediary.
