Iran on the verge of suicide: 80,000 attempts every year

More than 4,000 people commit suicide every year in Iran. 75% of them are people over 50 years old.

This was stated by Hamid Peyravi, president of the Scientific Society for the Prevention of Suicides in Iran, according to the “Azad Iran” Telegram channel.

According to him, social factors play an important role among the main causes of suicide in the country.

Peyravi also stressed that between 40,000 and 80,000 people attempt suicide and suffer physical injuries as a result.
